17 new ideas for sharing your faith!!!

Ashleigh Brilliant, a British author I know nothing about, said, “Good ideas are common - what's uncommon are people who'll work hard enough to bring them about." Our hope is to give you fresh ideas for sharing your faith; that's the small part. The extraordinary part is each of you that are putting these ideas into action. I wanted to put all the ideas from the blog's 1st month into one post for any of you that want to scan through and find some you didn't have a chance to do yet. They are all linked up here. Please feel free to add your stories as comments to any of these posts - let us know how the ideas are working out. The ideas are listed in descending order with the most recent (today's) listed 1st. I hope you'll get a chance to do that one today and I hope you'll have fun reviewing these others and getting to do any you haven't yet. Many of these will have stories of what happened when we applied the idea linked at the bottom. 1 Cor.3:9 says, "we are God's fellow workers..." You and God make a really good team. I hope you'll have a great time sharing your faith today and this week! P.S. I am updating this post with new ideas as we add them! Check the bottom of this post for updates.

Evangelism may have just saved a life! (The full story)

I put a short update in the "A" post but this story was too good not to share in more detail. Forgive me if this seems redundant. I just have to share this story more completely. We had been praying downtown (a group of leaders and pastors pray together every Tuesday for our town - check out more about that here). When we finished, people started leaving but a few of us turned and walked over to 2 men and a boy sitting in the park. I started going through the Soularium with them. The first picture "J" picked was the one with 2 doors chained shut (similar to the one on the left). I asked him why. He told us he felt like his hands were tied and that he was having one of the worst days of his life. His friend chimed in, agreeing and then saying, "We're sure God brought you here to encourage him." As we asked where they were at with God the friend, "R" said, "My family, marriage and life were falling apart until my son here, "R" began going to Sunday school." His son smiled as he talked. "R" continued, "he comes home and tells us everything he is learning about God. He told us the most important thing was to accept Christ." His son was nodding as his dad made this point. His father continued, "As we've been learning all this from our son, our family, marriage and lives have been completely transformed." I hope this encourages all you Sunday school teachers. While I was chatting with "R" and "R" my buddy was talking with "J." I totally missed what "J" said during the short exchange I had with "R." Apparently, "J" had just learned some devastating news and had told my friend he wanted to kill someone that morning. He also told him that our conversation with him had convinced him that was not the right thing to do. Can you believe that??? It was about then that I came back into that conversation as well. We clarified the gospel with the 3 and they all claimed to have a relationship with God. "J" admitted he just hadn't been walking with God at all lately. We were able to share scripture with the 3 and we prayed with and for them each. As we left they thanked us and again mentioned how they knew God sent us to encourage them! I didn't even hear the amazing part of the story (the conversation between my friend and "J") until yesterday as we were sharing about evangelism in church and the story came out. God is so good! If you want to hear the evangelism Q&A and this story, as told by my friend (whose name I am keeping quiet here because he works in a closed country) it is posted below. Anyway, this story illustrates the importance of obeying God's leading and sharing with those He prompts us to share with. It also reminds me that the gospel and evangelism always produce fruit - even if that fruit is different than what we expect. These men didn't pray the sinner's prayer with us, so to say, but who knows, this evangelistic conversation my well have saved someone's life! Keep your eyes open for a new evangelism idea coming shortly! I hope and trust you will have a great day, being blessed and used by our awesome God in ways you never imagined!

P.S. Please share your stories with us (you can add them as a comment to any of these posts) and please follow this blog and share it with those you think it will encourage! You can sign up to follow the blog to the left of this post. Thank you so much!

Standing Together as One and Sharing the Good News!

Yesterday we applied Sunday's challenge here in Durango; it was amazing! I have prayed for years and longed for the day we would see Christians in Durango standing in unity and sharing the gospel together (Phil.1:27). Yesterday was just the beginning! It has been raining nearly every day this week and there were clouds yesterday morning. We prayed before, during and after church that God would hold the rain until after the evangelism time. No longer than 10 minutes after we finished the outreach it began poring! About 40 people showed up at Calvary International at 3:00 pm (The pictures on the left were taken at the end of the day, after a bunch of people had already left). There were people from the River Church, Calvary International, 1st Baptist and New Hope. We did a short evangelism training (on how to use the Soularium and KGP tools) and then split up all over town. Erich and I shared with "T" and "M" for about 45 minutes at the skate park. They were both at very different points in their own journeys but were very interested in Christ and the gospel. Pastor Dwight saw a couple making out and yelled, "Cut it out, your making me miss my wife." They laughed at his funny but very creative way of starting a conversation and he was able to share with them! One former inmate was able to share with a guy he knew when he was in prison. A friend who has served for years with Muslims prayed he would be able to meet one and ended up meeting and sharing with a Palestinian. A group from Calvary International (a spanish speaking church) shared Christ with the Hispanic people at a trailer park in town while another couple of groups hit up Main Street and witnessed to the tourists. One lady stayed back at the church and prayed for us as we shared! It was a great afternoon of sharing the Good News together. These stories and those I couldn't fit in here were awesome but the greatest the greatest thing that happened yesterday was Christians from all over town, from different backgrounds, denominations and churches spent the afternoon unified in prayer and action, witnessing together, standing as one to see our city won for Jesus! Working together as a team we will see our city transformed. I trust this was just the beginning. Did you go out witnessing yesterday afternoon? If so, share your stories by commenting on this post.
