Just Released

This is why I wrote Beholding Him, Becoming Missional: Awakening to the Mission Through the Study of First Samuel, to offer women the opportunity to behold the King and be transformed into living uniquely purposeful and missional lives. By the end of the study, women will walk away with minds and hearts that have been transformed through an intimate relationship with the King, and lives uniquely reflecting the King’s heart and mission for the world.
The twelve week study has a “come alongside and let’s do life together” flavor and feel, written in a relational and relevant way. I share stories of victories and defeats, successes and embarrassments reflecting what other women may be going through. These stories are fitting since First Samuel is packed full of relevant stories—stories of people bravely living out God’s heart and passion, stories of utter failure and embarrassment, stories of redemption, victory, and partnering with others to live out God’s very heart.
Beholding Him, Becoming Missional is for individual or group use and set up in two sections. The first six weeks will move women into a more authentic relationship with God. The second six weeks move them to the point of action, of living on purpose for the glory of God, reflecting His heart for the world. The questions are designed to engage the heart, where transformation can take place, leading ladies into living missionally.

“It is from personal experience that I understand what this world and culture has in mind for women today. The standard is mediocrity, powerlessness as a women and dimness in purpose. Laura’s Bible study is the perfect, most needed antidote that I can think of. Her study inspires me as a woman to take bold, thrilling risks for God, to seek purpose in my existence and to pursue ambition with a brave heart! Her study is radically unique and refreshing in a day and age where women are daily placed by the media in roles that foster disrespect and depleted standards. Why is her study valuable? It is through the investigation of 1 Samuel that her readers begin to understand that they are placed on Earth for a purpose. There is no mistaking it. Their creator has a plan for them and with every ounce of His strength He will pursue and love them. This is a message that is rarely, if ever, taught to women my age. This study is intellectual, organized, action-oriented and intent in growing a generation to a place of significance and worth in the eyes of the Lord.”

Evangelism Story: 3000 Nigerian terrorists trust Christ!
I heard this story earlier this year from a YWAM friend. AMAZING!!! I grew up a YWAM kid so this means a lot to me. Twenty-six YWAM students in Nigeria decided to take a risk and share the Good News with terrorists at a terrorist training camp in Nigeria. They wanted to serve them and then share with them (see servant evangelism ideas here). As they did this 300 Nigerian terrorists laid down their arms and put their trust in Jesus. The Nigerian government said they would grant the terrorists amnesty but only under the condition that YWAM would do their rehabilitation, which YWAM agreed to do, putting them all through discipleship training schools. As they were setting up the DTS rehab program for the terrorists 2,700 more terrorists trusted Christ and got plugged in!!! Since that time the Nigerian government has asked YWAM to start 3 discipleship training schools in each of their 36 states (a total of 108 discipleship training schools). This is GREAT news that every Christian should be hearing! See the full story with all the unbelievable details here. God is GREAT!
It is time for believers to begin taking a few risks for God! Imagine how many more stories there would be just like this one if we'd just trust God and go for it! What risk does God want you to take for Him right now wherever you live?
It is time to stop believing the lies that Muslims are enemies and instead to see them as we see everyone else around us - people God loves dearly! Many of them have never heard the Gospel but are so interested in Jesus. 16,000 Muslims a day are putting their trust in Jesus! Want evidence? Just check out godrev.com and greatcommission2020.com and see for yourself how many people in Muslim countries trust Christ within 15 minutes of logging on - it will blow your mind! Soon we'll write a post on how to share Christ with your Muslim friends. Erin and I have numerous Muslim friends that we love dearly and they are truly some of the kindest and neatest people we know. We need to be taking the initiative to share Christ with all of those around us regardless of any differences we have with them (get 47 new evangelism ideas here).
Before I finish, if you are a Muslim, know that you are loved, by God and Christians. Know that Jesus is reaching out His hand to you and desires to forgive all of your sins and to have a relationship with you. Please forgive us for the times we have not shown you God's love.

1600 Salvations in Angola!

I had the opportunity to go to Angola, Africa with the Jesus Film Project for two weeks this summer with 9 other people. We went to Luena, which is a town in the province of Moxico in eastern Angola. While we were there we showed the film 6 times in different villages, we shared our testimonies to crowds anywhere from 500 to 1500 people, over 5400 people heard the Gospel and over 1600 people put their trust in Jesus Christ accepting Him as their personal Lord and Savior! In order to show the film, we would bring in a screen, speakers, a 16 mm projector, lights, and a generator; all of which worked every night. We were the first team to show the “Jesus” film in the Chokwe language! Throughout the trip, I kept thinking about Matthew 9:37, “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” This could not have been truer on our trip. The people we met and the villages we went to were so hungry for God. These people have had the complete Bible in Chokwe only since 1990. God has worked in big ways in the hearts of the Chokwe people, but there are still many who haven’t heard the name of Jesus (or as they say, Yesu)! At the last film showing there were about 650 people (which was one of our smaller showings). At the end, the Pastor asked if anyone wanted to accept Christ to come forward. One man practically ran up to the front and then more and more people, about 200, made their way up to accept Christ. The pastor then led them through a prayer to accept Christ, which they repeated aloud. As soon as the prayer began our team realized that people were repeating the prayer all around us, not just the people who went to the front. This was such a powerful moment; all we could do was stand in awe of God at work and praise Him for moving in the lives of the Chokwe people. At the end of the night, we estimated that 350 people accepted Christ! Over half of the audience! God opened my eyes to the way He not only answers prayers faithfully, but He does it with power! My perspective of God has expanded because of what I saw Him do in Angola – both in the lives of the Chokwe people and in the lives of my teammates and I! These stories are just the start of what I saw God do. I hope to have the chance to share more stories and pictures with you in the future.
