The retreat was GREAT! - February 11th, 2009

I’ll keep this short. We just returned from our February retreat. It was amazing. Malcolm, one of the guys I’m discipling opened up the retreat sharing his testimony and telling the rest of the group he wants to become a missionary when he eventually graduates. Russ asked him how that came about and it all goes back to the last several weeks of learning to share his faith on campus. The students did all the retreat talks; Mark spoke on getting serious about our sin, Kayle talked on living in the power of God (interestingly, Sara, who Kayle shared with and prayed for, along with many of you, the past 3 and a half years and who just accepted Christ in December was there as a living example of God’s power) and Erin Mulcare did her first talk ever on the dangers of doubt and complacency. All three talks were amazing and it was so neat seeing these students take steps of faith. We also had 4 students from San Juan Community College in NM with us. They have a vision to reach their entire campus and we’re developing a partnership to help them towards that goal. The retreat was amazing!

I spoke to a local men’s group on Beating Pornography last Wednesday. Statistically 50% of Christian men and 20% of Christian women are ADDICTED to porn with greater percentages being involved in it. You can listen to the message on our website under the audio tab. Please listen to this and share this with as many people as you can, so much is at stake. Also, share it with your pastor as it will be a great resource for leaders - many leaders have a hard time breaking this issue open.

Finally, This week is shaping up to be a huge one. Please pray for Tuesday morning and the pastors and leaders’ prayer time, also pray for Connect Tuesday night and finally, pray for the upcoming Creation and Evolution forum Thursday night here on campus at 7:00 pm (all you Durango locals are welcome to join us). Thank you all who fasted for the last forum, I invite all of you to fast again with us this Thursday. More on that later though.

Well, we’re wiped but so thankful for God’s goodness and faithfulness even in the midst of sleepless nights (Eliana has her first cold). We miss and love each of you.
