This is a great AP picture of Tebow sharing the gospel with his eye black. Eph. 2:8-10 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." What a performance last week! Coming from behind to win that game and then turning around to point at Jesus. Awesome. We prayed for him, down by 15 with 7 minutes to go that God would give him the opportunity to share the gospel and glorify God. Did He ever!!! Tebow's answer to how he won the game: "First and foremost I've gotta thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..." What an example of making the most of every opportunity (Col.4:5)! I hope I can better follow this awesome example of sharing the gospel regardless of the criticism I face. It is interesting how furious some people are with Tebow for sharing his faith (this article discusses that, remember Jn.15:18-19). Check out the game video below. Check out his testimony below that. Finally, get a list of other Christian athletes and ideas for sharing the gospel in conversations about sports here. Also, get more than 135 other evangelism ideas here. I hope this encourages you and I hope each of us will follow his evangelism example.
Thanks for posting this Nate!!! I would have never known otherwise -- ha! I suppose I should start watching football more ;)!
ReplyDeleteSo encouraging...man he's gonna need strength. It seems the Lord's already giving it to him though. It makes me think of the persecution that does NOT exist in my life...makes me wonder if something needs to change.
Thanks again!
While I am so excited to see some moral individuals in professional sports, I have a hard time praying for them. The amount of money they make compared to what teachers, nurses, etc... make should compel them to act with integrity.
ReplyDeleteI save my prayers for teachers, and the people in this world that are having a hard time. NFL players should be expected to do more.
You visited my site (Bible Love Notes), and I'm so glad I visited back. What a great site you have. I'm going to put it on Bible Love Notes as a good link. I have one suggestion...an "About Us" page with a little more info about the contributors. But other than that, I have only kudos...I think this is a great resource site. Thanks! Gail
