Fall Retreat!
50 + students, 8 staff and visitors dropping by throughout the weekend made this retreat unforgettable (accept getting destroyed playing paintball - I'm still trying to forget that, thanks a lot Nikki!). The retreat was amazing. This picture is a picture of Jake, Joseph and Ben leading us in an amazing time of praise (GREAT job this weekend guys). It was great getting to spend so much time with so many students and seeing God work in all of our lives. We're 6 weeks in to the new school year and the retreat couldn't have come at a better time. We had a ton of fun, developed amazing relationships, ate great food, and grew in our walks with God. The theme of the retreat was "Eternal Perspective." Leah started it all out with a talk on "Eternal Citizens." She did a great job clarifying the 2 kingdoms and clearly shared the gospel. Check out her talk here:
Erin (my beautiful wife) continued, discussing "Eternal Hope" in light of the pain and suffering around us. Get her notes here and listen to her amazing talk below.
I concluded the retreat talking about "Eternal Significance" and life purpose. Get my notes here and the MP3 below.
Retreats are always amazing! Watch the video below for a little more on what they're all about and students, get ready for the next one - mark Nov. 4-6 on your calendars!
Life Purpose and Eternal Significance
Ravi Zacharias writes, “Clearly formulate why you exist and what would be missing if you didn’t. You will never know what a distraction is until you know what your goal and purpose are. You must enunciate what your final goal is. It is imperative that somehow, before God, you take that time to write out on a blank sheet of paper why you exist. How wonderful it would be to clearly write out what the purpose of your life is really about and in light of that determine what will refresh and rejuvenate you as you pursue that purpose."
He's right on the money. How many Christians have lived their entire lives without answering that question? It is easy to get sucked into the daily grind, surviving rather than making a difference. This, however, is not what we're here for. The 6 C's, cash, cars, careers, condos, cuties and computers do not really satisfy. The life He's created you for is one of purpose and significance. Please check out these notes on purpose, including the life purpose worksheet (at the end) and listen to the MP3 below for more. Go big for Jesus guys!

Life Direction Circles
There is so much to do in life. So many demands. How do you know what to give your time to? And how does it relate to your purpose and the mission God gave you? How do you know what to say yes to and what to say no to? Here is a short video bringing clarity in uniquely and practically living out our purpose and mission.

Impact
We all want to make a difference, right? No one wants to live a life of futility. No one wants to be just one more person in the crowd. Everyone wants to leave a legacy. You don't want a meaningless life and God hasn't planned one for you either. He desires to impact both this world and eternity through you. Unfortunately, so many things stop us from living the life of impact He created us for. As you connect with God on this beautiful Sunday, evaluate what things are keeping you from the life of impact you were made for. Check out these notes and listen to the MP3 below - they're sure to encourage you. I'm excited about all this new year holds and can't wait to see what God will do in and through us this year.
Before you go, please share your thoughts on this issue by posting your answer to the following questions. 1) What would you love to see God do through your life? 2) What do you think is the #1 thing that keeps people from a life of impact? 3) What do you think is the #1 thing that can spur us on towards the life of impact God created us for?
